September 26, 2019 I caught my first Spotted Hake. We were at Fort Trumbull and my dad was checking the bait when he said that there was something on one of the rods. He gave it to me so I took it from him and reeled it in. I had no idea what it was. We sent a picture of it in to DEEP and they and within a few days they answered. They said it was a Spotted Hake. I had never heard of that name before but I was excited to learn a new kind of species.
