Ice Fishing

In fall of last year DEEP stocked lake trout into 5 lakes and ponds throughout CT.

I love to ice fish. We were ice fishing in February on Coventry Lake with some friends. I was helping my dad and one of our friends move tip-ups from one hole to another. We were carrying one across the ice when I started to look around at the other 4 tip-ups we had out. I noticed that one of the flags was set off. I yelled "flag" and took off running as fast as I could. I was like 20 feet away when I heard line screaming off the reel. By the time I got to the tip-up (it was like 50 yds) over 30' of line was out. I pulled it out of the water and set the hook. After about a 3 minute fight I got the fish out of the hole and onto the ice. I looked at it and started yelling "it's a lake trout"! It was 22" long and weighed at least 3 lbs. I caught one of the 164 that got stocked!!
